The Bärengraben (Bear Pit) is a bear enclosure situated in the Swiss capital city, Bern. The bear enclosure has operated in the city since the mid 19th century. The bear is seen as a symbol of the city and therefore the bear pit is a landmark. Over the years the bear pit has improved and the living conditions for the bears has been raised to replicate their natural habitat to a tee.
