General Information
Banffy Castle is a castle situated near Cluj-Napoca in Romania. The castle was the home of the Banffy family from the 14th century to 1944. The castle is a mixture of architectural style due to different rebuilds and restorations completed over the years to suit differing tastes. In 1944 the castle was damaged by German troops, following the damage the castle was abandoned and then looted for building materials over the years that followed. In 2000, the World Monument Foundation included the castle on its list and has since set about restoring it, raising money from concerts etc. The castle is seen as one of the most haunted in Romania.
Getting there
The castle is situated to the north east of Cluj-Napoca. The best way to get to the castle from Cluj is to get a taxi. The other option is to get a train to ‘Bontida’ then walk for 40 minutes to the castle.

The castle welcomes people daily between 10am-6pm.
