A royal castle situated in Royal Deeside near the city of Aberdeen in Scotland is Balmoral Castle. The castle was built on land acquired by Prince Albert in 1852, he ordered architect William Smith to design a castle for him. The castle was completed in 1856 and ever since it has been a royal residence. The castle is the private property of the British royal family and is not owned by the Crown Estate. The beautiful castle that is kept to a royal standard is of Scottish Baronial architecture. The Balmoral Estate covers 50,000 acres of land. The castle is a category A listed building.
The castle is situated within a vast area of countryside, it is fairly hard to get to unless your travelling by car. If you are travelling by car the castle has onsite parking spaces.
Opening Times and Admission
The castle is only open to visitors in the summer (April-July). In the summer months mentioned it is open daily 10am-5pm. Admission to the grounds, gardens, exhibitions, gift shop and cafe is set at £11.50 for adults, £6.50 for children and £10.50 for other concessions.
