Alte Oper is a concert hall and former opera house situated in Frankfurt, Germany. The Alte Oper was opened as an opera house in 1880 but was destroyed by bombs dropped during World War Two. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1981 as a concert hall. It is an elegant building and although it is a rebuild it is still recognised for its rich theatrical past. The concert hall has a capacity of 2,500.
The concert hall is situated on the Opernplatz. The U6 and U7 U-Bahn lines stop at the ‘Alte Oper’ stop which is just by the hall. The hall is a short walk away from the ‘Taunusanlage’ S-Bahn stop which is served by the S1-S9 lines.
