The Fundacio Joan Miro is a modern art museum in Barcelona, Spain. A building was built and opened in 1975 after the Joan Miro Foundation ordered the building for a place to encourage youths into modern art. The building was created so that people had a place to practice art but also to exhibit modern art. The building was expanded in 1986 and an auditorium and library were built. The collection contains art from local artists and also some of Joan Miró’s most famous work.
The museum was built at the top of Montjuic hill, it is accessible by the number 55 and 150 buses.
Opening Times and Admission
The museum is open six days of the week with Mondays being the weekly day of closure. The museum operates on slightly different opening and closing times on a couple of days but the main opening times are from 10am-6pm in Winter and 10am-8pm in summer, with Sunday's having a 3 pm closure. Entrance to the museum is priced at 12 euros for adults and 7 euros for concessions.
